Maggie’s @ The Scottish Open

norenWell that was a week and a half.  And then some! I’ve been at the Scottish Open since Tuesday night pretty much, and have spent the last four days volunteering with Maggie’s Glasgow on the fundraising stand alongside Gillian’s Saltire Appeal.  Having been down in Dundonald on Tuesday night for The Hero Challenge event and then Wednesday for the ProAm, I managed to get some goodies signed which I will be auctioning for Maggie’s this week (a couple are already up for grabs) to celebrate Open Championship Week.  Here’s 2016 Scottish Open Champ Alex Noren holding the multi signed Maggie’s tshirt which is signed by loads of golfers from the week including himself, Adam Scott, Padraig Harrington, Paul Lawrie, Stewart Cink, Graeme McDowell and 2017 winner Rafa Cabrera-Bello alongside loads more!  There’s also a tshirt signed by Rory McIlroy with a massiverory awesome signature, a real one off item!  I was over the moon to finally get a photo with Rory after ten years of trying!  There will be more golf items being added to the auctions this week to raise even more.

chequeThe whole purpose of the week was of course to raise money for Maggie’s as well as Gillian’s Saltire Appeal, and it was mindblowing to know that by the end of the week I had been part of an amazing team which raised over £41000 for charity.  Through the week we must have driven everyone mad in that tent, as we sold raffle tickets, lanyards and see you jimmy hats.  We had wonderful people who bought everything from a balloon for their kids to those who dug into their wallets and pulled out £20 notes for us just because they could.  Everyone of you is awesome.  The week was just summed up when the Stagecoach drivers who had been running me back and forwards from Irvine all week (even when I was the only one there!) handed me £30 to put in the pot.

Amazing.  What a week!
