A Day of Mixed Feelings…

It’s the weekend of the 2011 ING New York City Marathon and this is the first year since I started competing in marathons that I have not lined up on Staten Island to head through the five boroughs.  Berlin was a wonderful experience in September, but it really does feel strange not to be taking part after four consecutive years.  My best wishes go to all runners in the Big Apple tomorrow, enjoy it!

Today saw some brilliant additions to the Xmas Card Auction, with a trip to St Mirren vs Hearts and some of the players being kind enough to sign for the auction.

There’s St Mirren’s long serving midfielder Hugh Murray signing for the Xmas Card Auction, while David Barron was kind enough to get the squad to sign the larger Xmas Cards for me, with it being a bit too frantic to do it outside while getting other items signed.  HUGE thanks to David for being kind enough to help out.

I also took the time to confirm with the players who have agreed to support my auctions with match worn items that it would still be okay to get them, and all readily re-affirmed their support.  Saints’ Kenny McLean, who donated a pair of boots last season has said he will donate something again this year if he has anything left over, which would be a cracking addition given how well his boots went last year.

In the meantime, I’m hoping to add a few more to the Xmas cards tomorrow morning at Motherwell and am also hoping to have those auctions online quickly as well…life is just a little bit busy just now.
